Me and some pretty nice fibre. Top is huacaya and bottom pic is a suri. Hubbert Farms is expecting 17 new crias. Wow!
Yesterday was the perfect day to spend with the alpacas. Hubbert Farms was hosting a small group of Marketing students for the day. We spent time outside with the alpacas (of course I was fondling fleeces and checking out what I might like at shearing time:) Afterwards we went inside for more fibre demonstrations. I showed some of the girls how to spin and card the raw fibre. Today it's raining :(

Looked like the weather was beautiful, and what a nice farm/ranch! It makes me think what the hell am I doing in the city? I should be out raising some alpaca, sheep, and some bunnies. I'd need a house just to store all the fibre. haha. Great pictures Jody!
Hey Charlene....Hubbert Farms is on the outskirts of Peterborough but is still very rural. Yes having all those animals would be nice but it is so much work that you would have so little time to spin and knit. Speaking of which....when am I going to see some spinning updates hmmmm??
Oh my! Fiber overload! Looks like a wonderful day!
Oh, it looks so nice to be on the farm in that beautiful weather! I wish our snow was gone.
Looks like you are having a great time...the blankets in the post below are stunning! Great pics!
And your mittens are gorgeous!
I want to hug a fiber beast!!
Jody,
It looks like you had lots of fun.
I'm envious. I would love to visit those alpacas.
Lovely.
I wonder what this fleeze looks like and how it is to knit with. Would love to try it some day.
It's funny you mentioned about spinning Jody :) I've been spinning trying to finish off spools of singles so I can ply, but then the drive band broke and now I've got to head out today and pick up some proper string for a new one.
