Carding Frenzy

Black cria alpaca and hand dyed silk
Moorit merino fleece for blending Fine white alpaca, light moorit merino and bamboo
Finished batts rolled into bumps. I like these batts thoroughly blended so that's why it took so long.
There's been a ferocious, nasty wind blowing here for 2 days now but I was snug and warm inside with my Fancicard. Yes it's a thing of beauty...everything I dreamed it would be. Cue the violins :)
Last night I carded and blended for 5 hours straight. I have a new respect for all you carding people out there. It's alot of work (my back is letting me know today).
You can expect that every one of my blends will contain alpaca. Luckily alpaca works with pretty much everything.
I expect shearing day is this coming Tuesday and I will have a couple of new alpaca fleeces to show you :) and pics of the shearing if you would like to see.

Jody,
Those are lovely batts. When you said 5 hours straight,I thought my goodness her wrist and shoulder must be in extreme pain and then I remembered you have a motorized carder. I want one.
When I stand and card for long periods of time my lower back hurts also. Have to remember to walk away and take frequent breaks.

How very cool! Just cant get enough at first, then it mellows a bit, but it is still so much fun :)

Yup, I definitely feel sore after drum carding too! I have a non-motorized one, and find that handcarding is more gentle on my body than drum carding.

Thanks for your kind welcome to Canada! I expect that Winnipeg will be a step up for us from Kentucky in every way. Cold, and less snow than you get in Ontario...but since I've lived in Buffalo, I must say that a little less snow might not be such a problem. Shoveling does get tiring.:) Enjoy your batts!

I hear the violins!

Let the spinning begin!
