Sheep Shearing

Today DH and I drove out to Willow Garden Shetlands for the annual sheep shearing. I met some super nice people (spinners of course) and helped skirt fleeces for 4 hours. It was alot of fun and I bought a very pale grey shetland fleece and the last BFL fleece from last year. The fleeces are very similar in colour but the BFL has a more pronounced crimp and tighter lock structure. Above are some pics of the washed staples. See if you can tell which is Shetland and which is BFL.

Hi Jody!! Thanks again for all your help at the skirting table :-). It was great getting to know you, especially when surrounded by fibre ;-).

Jody,
You have some of the most interesting fiber experiences.
I really enjoy reading about them and seeing your blog pictures.
I wish that I lived close to an alpaca or sheep farm.

(Lets try this again...)

Loverly Fleece!
I'm guessing the Shetland staple is the top one in the bottom photo?
Is it dual coated perhaps??

All the fleece are looking so yummy I want to jump in!

No Cyndy the shetland is not dual coated. The top pic is all BFL staples and the bottom is all shetland staples.
