I have not had the chance to try Yak fibre even though I recently bought Yak yarn in Amsterdam.
I got 2 oz of the white Yak clouds and 1 oz of the brown Yak. It is not as soft as my Cashmere but has a nice density to it. This will be blended...with what I don't know yet but I am sure there is plenty in my stash.
yarn from the sheepies. In another month or so we will be able to tell who is pregnant! Lambies
will be due end of March!! That reminds me, I better get repairing a couple of the lambie coats :-)
My recently finished handspun Cormo yarn is knitting up beautifully into a Russian Lace scarf.
This is from Knitting Traditions Fall 2011 issue. Galina A. Khmeleva pattern.
I just ordered Knitting Traditions Winter 2011. I love Galina A. Khmeleva's Shawl pattern.
Happy Knitting!

OH - that filled cake looks wonderful. Do you share recipes? I'd love to have it, if you do!!
Lovely mittens. I took a class in twined knitting from Beth Brown-Reinsel. She told me that, as a continental knitter, I wouldn't be able to hold both yarns on my left finger. Nothing like waving the red cape... I did it! I lost the resulting mittens to the energetic ministrations of my LGD puppy, but I enjoyed them.
Yak fiber is a lot like camel down or qiviut - very soft, very warm, and IMO best spun long draw from a wad in your hand.
Lucky you to have such goodies!
Wow, what eye candy! Beautiful baking and wonderful fibers, yarn, and knitting! I have never done twined knitting. Now I'm curious about it and will have to do an internet search.
Wow! That baking looked yummy! Often items that don't 'turn out' still taste great.
You're mittens look great. I first learned about the Fleece and Fiber Sourcebook when I was at my spinning workshop in Scotland last fall. I bought the book as soon as I got home. I also very much like the Magnificent Mittens and Socks book. (Which reminds me, I should have another look at it).
That yak fibre looks luscious! Your son sure can pick the good presents.
ohhh what a yummy filled post :) I love anything with almonds in and that cake looks gorgeous.
Love the mitts too and I have yet to try twinned knitting but its on my list of to-do's
Love it all! Still trying to figure twined knitting, curious if you find Long's book helpful! And the Selbuvotter...beautiful!
